SAMUN XVIII is for Mr. Rolando Drago, Chile’s ambassador to Venezuela, his first experience of this type of event.
In an interview with SAMUNDO, he said that he considers a model United Nations an interesting initiative because there is always a need for new ideas and young blood to help the world deal with its difficult issues.
He believes that the experience of SAMUN will make the delegates start to think about the conflicts occurring in the world. He thinks that the present thoughts generated by delegates in this type of setting are the beginning of ideas that will aid the future world in its quest for harmony among nations.
Mr. Drago thinks that being an ambassador is a good and pleasant job, but it is a job that requires youthful energy and ideas that will make a difference.
His essential message to the delegates is: “Keep on being incisive with your questions. When considering a conflict, don’t take just the present into consideration, but also think of the history of the country or countries. Think of the past. That is what will help you understand the conflict better and find a resolution to it.”
