Visiting Casa Hogar ABANSA
As part of the AYA activities, the hard-working AYA team organized a visit to the ABANSA orphanage or home. Our committed teachers and students arrived at the home where the kids were waiting for us. After we arrived, we heard from the “mom” of the home, the person in charge of the children who live there. She provided information about how the home functions, as well as its history.
After our introductions, the AYA group started with the planned activities. The children from the home were really excited to participate, and we were excited to begin. The CIC group had prepared different educational, sport and interactive activities. The participants read books, jumped ropes, danced with the hula-hoops, played with soccer balls. It was a fun and healthy way to spend our time together.
We also wanted to leave the home with a gift from the CIC AYA. We donated paint to Casa Hogar ABANSA so that they could do some necessary repairs and give a fresh look to the home.
Ultimately, while we went to help those children at the home, the CIC AYA participants learned so much from the children. We learned that everyone should do these kind of activities and collaborate with people that really need our help. Through this type of work, we learned how truly privileged we are. We learned that we need to thank our parents and family for everything they have sacrificed to make us happy.
Most importantly, we made these children happy so that they could smile all day long simply by spending time playing games. It didn’t take any special equipment or toys. By our actions, which we often take for granted, we made a huge impact on this special group of children. We ask you all, no matter who you are–parent or student at CIC, start making these kids happy. We can let them know that they are also important, and just because of their circumstances, they too can have opportunities. Please help us help them!
